Homoeopathy - Meet Rebecca

MYG Introduction: Meet Rebecca

Some paths are chosen. Others are called into being by something larger than intention. Rebecca's journey through homoeopathy is of the second kind — shaped not by career planning but by a deep and consistent willingness to go where the work was needed, even when that meant leaving certainty behind. We are honoured to welcome her as one of our first Wisdom Keepers. What she carries is not just clinical knowledge, but the kind of understanding that only comes from decades of service, initiation, and genuine encounter with life in all its forms.

Areas of Teaching Within MYG:

  • Homoeopathy — history, philosophy, and traditional principles

  • Constitutional awareness and self-observation

  • African traditional healing perspectives

  • The inner life of the practitioner — service, vocation, and integrity

About Rebecca

Rebecca India Louise Sturgeon

LCPH · BSc Hons · Sangoma · Homoeopath & Teacher

Rebecca has been practising homoeopathy for over thirty years — trained at the London College of Practical Homoeopathy between 1994 and 1998, and later graduating with a BSc Honours from Middlesex University in 2020. But her qualifications, impressive as they are, tell only a fraction of her story.

In 2002 she moved to South Africa, and what followed was not a career — it was a calling. She began volunteering in a township clinic in Cape Town, developing what she calls "Gorilla prescribing" — homoeopathy adapted for the real conditions of real communities, without the comfort of consulting rooms or certainty. In 2004 she co-founded Work for Love, an NGO in Masiphumelele, Cape Town, coordinating nineteen volunteer therapists and bringing care to those who had none. In 2012 she fundraised singlehandedly for a building that would become a school. That school — now called Bhongolethu Foundation — today holds over 300 children across two buildings. She built it from nothing.

In 2005 Rebecca was initiated as a Sangoma — a traditional African healer — a recognition that came not from ambition but from years of genuine immersion in the communities she served. Between 2006 and 2014 she served as school homoeopath for a Waldorf school, and in 2016 began travelling deeper into Africa alongside Dr Elvia Bury, teaching homoeopathy to bishops and pastors across the continent.

When Dr Bury passed in 2022, Rebecca did not step back. She stepped forward — continuing Elvia's work alongside her son, now teaching and guiding over 160 students across Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi. In 2025 she took on another township school of 160 children, where she continues to offer homoeopathic care directly.

Her path has not always been easy or sanctioned. In 2014 she was told to desist from practice and shut down her clinic — a moment that might have ended a lesser commitment. It did not end hers.

Alongside homoeopathy, Rebecca has pursued a remarkable breadth of study in service of her practice and her own inner work: Family Constellations, Anthroposophical medicine, Chirology, Integrative medicine, Karate, and the deep transformational work of Women Who Run with the Wolves and Inner Child Soul Reclamation. Each thread, in her hands, is part of the same cloth.

Rebecca joins the MYG community not as an authority figure but as someone who has walked the fire — and kept walking. She brings with her a quality of presence that only genuine service can build, and an understanding of homoeopathy that has been tested not in theory but in life.

Educational Contribution to MYG

Rebecca contributes to the Master Your Greatness Wellness Academy as an external practitioner and educator, offering members an introduction to the history, philosophy, and traditional principles of homoeopathy within our private, learning-based community. Her teaching sits within MYG's wider educational mission of connecting members with living traditions and the practitioners who carry them — not to create dependency or prescription, but to support each member's own process of self-remembering, personal responsibility, and informed exploration.

Her contribution forms part of the documented educational programme of Master Your Greatness Wellness Academy e.V. and its associated educational initiatives.
